Flood victims in Baghlan Province are urgently requesting aid from the interim government and relief organizations.
They have reported that the devastating floods yesterday wiped out all their crops and livestock, and there is a need for the government and organizations to assist in rebuilding shelters and providing food supplies.
Abdul Baqi, a flood victim in Baghlan, told TOLOnews, “All our houses have been destroyed. I am disabled and was unable to move items out of the house.”
Noor Khan, another victim, said, “Houses are filled with water, and people have moved outside towards the cemetery. We don’t have shelters, and we are all sitting under the rain in the mountains.”
Shams, who lost all his possessions, requested from the government: “We ask the Islamic Emirate to help and cooperate with us. All our belongings are gone, and our family members are stranded behind the mountains.”
Although some flood victims have criticized the delayed arrival of aid, Alam Majidi, the spokesperson for the governor of Baghlan, stated that an emergency committee has been established to assist those affected.
The spokesperson for the governor of Baghlan added, “An emergency committee was formed in the province where all officials from relief organizations and other sectors were present; they all promised that their teams would be organized in the field and would provide assistance and care for all areas.”
While flood victims in Baghlan are demanding immediate help, the Ministry of Defense and various other governmental bodies and international organizations have started rescue and relief operations.
