A sports dress production factory operated by 20 people was opened in northwestern Faryab province, officials said Sunday.

Naqibullah Fayeq, Faryab governor, who attended the inauguration ceremony of the factory in Maimana, provincial capital yesterday, called the opening of the factory a positive move for encouraging other investors and said the government alone was unable to create jobs and boost economy.

“In the past, our security situation was not good and most of residents of Maimana city migrated to other places but now people trust security and that was the reason the private sector interested in investment,” he said.

Ghulam Mohammad Babayee, the owner of the factory, said that there was a need for a sports dresses production factory in Faryab and they opened it with an initial investment of $75,000.

Besides sewing sports dresses, we also accept our customers’ orders for printing their favorite pictures and text on dresses and dishes, he said.

Mohammad Amin, an athlete in Maimana city, said that they had to go to neighboring provinces for purchasing sports clothes in the past but with activation of this factory they would no longer need to go to other areas.

If this factory produces high quality sports dresses with reasonable prices, it would encourage even athletes of neighbor provinces to purchase their dresses from here, he said.
