Enhanced Kabul-Beijing cooperation underlined

Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan Liu Jingson met Deputy Foreign Minister Idrees Zaman and discussed ties between the two countries, the Chinese embassy tweeted on Monday.

At the meeting between Ambassador Liu Jinsong and Zaman, Director General of the third Political Department of Foreign Ministry Baheen Sultan Ahmad was also present.

Meanwhile, Zaman briefed Liu on the latest progress in Afghanistan-Pakistan relations, and expressed his gratitude for China’s efforts to bring the neighbors closer. They also exchanged views on Sino-Afghan ties and international and regional issues.

Liu thanked Afghanistan for its care and support for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as well as the latest positive statement from President Ashraf Ghani. He introduced the results of the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and its positive impacts on Afghanistan.

Liu called for further cooperation between the two countries through the BRI, covering various projects, including infrastructure, direct flights and trains, ports, finance, customs service, tax, energy, environmental protection, culture, think-tanks and media.
