Eight ANA soldiers killed, 10 captured in Farah attack

Eight Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers have been killed and 10 others captured by Taliban in the Bala Baluk district of western Farah province, an official said on Sunday.

Dadullah Qane, a member of the provincial council, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants attacked a military base in the Aab Khurma area of the district on the Herat-Farah highway late on Saturday night.

He said the base fell to the rebels, who took away all weapons and ammunition before leaving. Security officials of the province have not yet commented in this regard.

Qari Yousaf Ahamdi, Taliban’s spokesman, claimed eight soldiers were killed and 10 others seized by the attackers. He added the fighters also seized weapons and ammunition, including a tank.

Two rebels were wounded in the clash, the Taliban spokesman concluded.
