A drug addict has shot dead his wife and four children in the Jabal Saraj district of central Parwan province.
Deputy police chief Abdul Wase Gul Bahar told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident was sparked by a verbal dispute in Miana Guzar village on Monday evening.
He said the dead included three girls, one boy and a woman. The killer managed to flee the area, the police officer added.
Haji Mohammad Ghulam, a tribal elder from the area, said the addict — Abdullah Aleem — was intoxicated when he shot dead his family members.
“The children were mysteriously killed. One of them was nine months old and other children were between four and six years,” he informed.
According to another report, a 16-year-old boy was rescued from his kidnappers and one suspect was detained in central Kapisa province.
Police spokesman Abdul Shaeq Shorish said the boy had been kidnapped one week back in Nijrab district and kept in an unknown place. He said two suspects were under interrogation.
Shah Ahmad, a resident of the area, said the kidnappers held the boy in a cave in the mountain but police rescued the victim.
