Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of Afghanistan, met with Jabbar Ali Zakeri, Head of the Railway Administration of Iran, along with his delegation at Arg.
During the meeting, both sides discussed enhancing economic ties, trade, and cooperation in the railway sector between Afghanistan and Iran. Zakeri expressed Iran’s interest in developing a railway network that traverses Afghanistan, aiming to connect China to Europe, leveraging Afghanistan’s strategic location.
He proposed the establishment of a joint committee to facilitate discussions with interested companies and advance this initiative.
In response, the Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan highlighted that he had previously discussed the project’s value with Iran’s Vice President approximately three years back and had provided details regarding its economic significance.
Deputy PM Mullah Baradar emphasized the urgency of setting up the joint committee promptly to initiate practical work on the project without delay.
