Afghan intelligence operatives have arrested Daesh or so-called Islamic State (IS) leader for Afghanistan along with 19 associates, the spy-network said on Saturday.
A statement from the National Directorate of Security (NDS) media’s office said Abdullah Orakzai aka AslamFarooqi, the IS leader for Afghanistan, has been arrested.
The statement said Qari Zahid and Saifullah known as Abu Talha were also among the detainees.
Aslam Farooqi is originally from Akhunzadagan village of Pakistan’s Orakzai district near Peshawar and has been operating in Abdulkhel valley of Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province.
The statement said Farooqi was appointed as the IS leader across Afghanistan after the killing of Abu Saeed Bajauri.
