The Cricket Champions Trophy begins today (Wednesday, February 19) in Pakistan, featuring Afghanistan’s national cricket team.
In the opening match, the national teams of New Zealand and host Pakistan will compete. This game is scheduled to start at 12:30 PM Afghanistan time.
A total of eight countries will compete in this tournament, divided into two groups of four teams, hosted by Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
Afghanistan’s national cricket team is placed in Group B alongside South Africa, England, and Australia. Their first match will be played on Friday against South Africa in Pakistan.
Hashmatullah Shahidi, the captain of Afghanistan’s national cricket team, described the “Blue Tigers'” training and preparation as satisfactory in an interview with TOLOnews. He emphasized the team’s determination to achieve positive results against their opponents.
In Group A, teams from Pakistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand, and India will face off against each other.
The tournament will be played in a 50-over format among the participating teams.
