COVID-19 Cases in Afghanistan Approaches 27,000: MoPH

The Ministry of Public Health on Wednesday reported 564 new positive cases of the coronavirus from 1,126 samples tested over the last 24 hours.

The ministry also reported 13 new deaths from COVID-19 and 650 recoveries. With this, the total cases are now 26,874, the total reported deaths are 504, and total recoveries are 6,158.

The highest count was reported in Kabul with 192, followed by Bamiyan (65 cases), Takhar (64), Kandahar (27), Balkh (51), Paktia  (40), Nangarhar (6), Baghlan (21), Kunduz (27), Wardak (24), Kunar (5), Kapisa (12), Badakhshan (6), Zabul (2), Daikundi (14) and Nuristan (8).

Also, the ministry reported three COVID-19 deaths in Kabul, two in Nangarhar, three in Takhar, three in Bamiyan, one in Badghis and one in Wardak in the last 24 hours.

So far, 60,298 samples have been tested in the government’s testing centers and there are 20,212 active COVID-19 cases in the country, according to data by the Ministry of Public Health.
