COVID-19: 813 New Cases, 86 Deaths Reported in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Public Health on Saturday reported 813 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 2,855 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The ministry also reported 86 deaths and 758 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period.

Data by the Public Health Ministry shows that the total number of cases is 133,578, total deaths stand at 5,724 and total recoveries are at 80,204.

So far, 653,410 samples have been tested in the country’s laboratories for COVID-19. Moreover, more than 980,000 people have had at least one shot of COVID-19 vaccine, government data shows.

Afghanistan on Friday received 1.48 million doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine provided by the US.

The Ministry of Public Health said the implementation of the vaccine was started in the country’s health centers on Saturday.

The total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the world stands at 186,152,198 and total deaths are 4,021,065, figures by Johns Hopkins University show.
