Over 93,000 tons of commercial goods were transported through Afghanistan’s railway lines during the past week, according to officials.

The cargo movement included exports, imports, and transit shipments.

Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Works, stated that the total volume of goods transported via rail from the 29th of Hamal to the 4th of Sawr reached over 93,000 tons.

The goods included petroleum products, non-petroleum items, and various other materials. The shipments were carried through major border railway ports, including Hairatan, Aqina, Torghundi, and Khaf-Herat.

Among the items transported were dried fruits, pomegranate juice, oranges (kino), and potatoes — reflecting both domestic exports and transit trade.

Economic analysts say that an increase in trade and cargo movement through Afghanistan’s railway corridors not only boosts national income but also opens doors to employment opportunities, economic progress, and greater self-reliance — ultimately paving the way toward long-term stability.
