China has welcomed the recent elevation of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan from the chargé d’affaires level to full ambassadorial status, calling it a step forward for regional stability and cooperation.
At a press briefing on Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said the move would help strengthen mutual trust and cooperation between the two neighbors.
He also noted that it aligns with commitments made during the May trilateral meeting of foreign ministers from China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
“This is a positive and important development,” Lin said. “China is ready to continue playing a constructive role in supporting improved relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.”
He emphasized that China remains committed to working with both countries—and the broader region—to promote peace, stability, and development, and to build a “community with a shared future” among neighboring nations.
