China ready to help Afghan peace process succeed

China’s special representative for Afghanistan Deng Xijun on Sunday said his country was ready for all cooperation to help the Afghan peace process yield a positive and good outcome.

The Chinese envoy made these remarks during a meeting with State Minister for Peace Abdul Salam Rahimi in Kabul, a statement from the newly-created ministry said.

The statement said both the sides discussed implementation of different phases of the Afghanistan peace process, the Peace Ministry’s role in this regard and China’s assistance in peace negotiations.

Deng Xijun said China was ready for all kind of cooperation to ensure the peace process yielded good outcome.

Separately, Rahimi met with Counselor for Peace and Reconciliation at the US Embassy in Kabul, Alan Misenheimer, and the delegation accompanying him.

The two sides talked about intra-Afghan peace dialogue and post-peace talks arrangements and cooperation. The two sides agreed that only the government and the people of Afghanistan could decide their future.
