Political advisor to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on Tuesday called Dr. Abdullah’s claim of winning the presidential election a hasty decision.
The presidential race, involving Abdullah and President Ashraf Ghani as frontrunners, was conducted on Sept 28, but its result is yet to be announced.
As votes are being tallied, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) says no one has the right to pre-judge the election outcome.
With the vote count underway, Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdullah on Monday claimed winning the presidential election.
While announcing his electoral success against President Ashraf Ghani and other runners, the CEO said he had won the highest number of votes.
But Noor Agha Sharifi, advisor to Abdullah and member of the Hezb-i-Jamiat Islami Afghanistan, called the CEO claim a hasty decision that would not benefit the nation.
At a press conference, Sharifi said he would oppose any decision that was against the law and the will of people. Such statements could push the country into crisis, he feared.
He urged the leading candidates to avoid making statements that confused the people, or created doubts with regard to the outcome of the election.
