Celebrating Turkmen Language Day in Faryab

Turkmen Language Day was celebrated in Faryab province with a book fair, handicrafts exhibition, display of traditional clothing, and poetry readings. Several poets, cultural figures, and residents from the northern provinces participated in the event, calling for the strengthening and preservation of the authentic Turkmen culture.

Najibullah, one of the residents, said, “We should be provided with scholarships so that our young people can study abroad. Additionally, the number of government positions allocated to us is not proportional to our population.”

Cultural activist Hasan Sardash said: “Today, a large carpet production town was established in the four districts of Andkhoy, but the work remains incomplete. Our demand from the leadership of the Islamic Emirate and the international community is to support the carpet town.”

Several other cultural figures at the event requested the caretaker government and cultural institutions to collaborate in the growth and enrichment of Turkmen culture and literature, support the carpet industry, create job opportunities, provide educational scholarships, and publish the works of Turkmen poets.
Teacher Chari-Qul said “Our request from the current government is to work towards strengthening our language and elevating its status. This is our demand from the Islamic Emirate.”

Cultural activist Zalmai Azizi added, “Organizing programs to promote and enrich languages, especially the Turkmen language, is undoubtedly effective and encourages our new generation to take pride in their mother tongue.”

Local officials in Faryab emphasized the strengthening of the authentic Turkmen language and culture during the event and urged people to resist the invasion of foreign cultures.

Shamsuddin Mohammadi, Director of Information and Culture of Faryab, said, “All people have a religious, national, and Afghan duty to consciously resist the invasion of foreign cultures and prevent these cultures from affecting our rich traditions and customs.”

Meanwhile, several young people and cultural figures in Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia also celebrated Turkmen Language Day and emphasized the preservation and continuation of the authentic Turkmen culture in the country.
