At least five security force members were killed and five others were wounded in a car bomb attack in Nahr-e-Siraj district, Helmand province, on Sunday evening, the provincial governor’s spokesman Omar Zwak said.
He said the attack targeted a base of the Afghan National Army and the National Directorate of Security personnel in Nahr-e-Siraj district.
A security source said the base has been destroyed “completely” and that 18 security force members have been killed in the attack.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
