Bomb kills head of academic council of Afghan education ministry in Kabul

Two bomb blasts went off in Afghan capital Kabul on Wednesday, killing at least two people, officials said.

Both the blasts were triggered by magnetic bombs, the Interior Ministry said.

One hit an Afghan forces’ truck in Police District 12 of the city. Another struck a car that belonged to the education ministry in Police District 5, the ministry said.

Two others were injured in the blasts, it said.

Education Ministry said that head of its academic council, Abdul Baqi Amin, was killed in the bomb blast. Nooria Nahzat, the ministry’s spokesperson, said that the official’s driver was wounded.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombings which come a day after 14 rockets hit the city during the Independence Day, injuring 10 people.
