Army Chief in Malistan to prepare troops for a large-scale offensive

The Afghan National Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mohammad Sharif Yaftali arrived in Malistan district of Ghazni province on Tuesday, as the armed forces are preparing for a large-scale offensive to suppress the militants.

In the meantime, the 203rd Thunder Corps of the Afghan Military in the Southeast in a statement said the armed forces have launched an offensive (Thunder-4) in some districts of Ghazni province.

The statement further added that the operations are being led by 203rd Thunder Corps Commander Gen. Dadan Lawang.

According to 203rd Thunder Corps, the Commando Forces and other armed troops have also been deployed to Jaghoori and Malistan districts for the launch of a large-scale operation.

This comes as heavy clashes are underway in Malistan and Jaghoori districts of Ghazni province since the last few days.
