Ahmadzai vows not to deviate from his words

Former presidential advisor Gen. Habib Ahmadzai on Monday said he would not deviate from his statements about the Presidential Palace and vowed to provide all evidence about his allegations if an investigative institute was created on the issue.
Gen. Habibullah Ahmadzai, a former special advisor to President Ashraf Ghani on national security, during an interview with a television channel on Friday said that he resigned over interference in his duty, wrong interpretation of democracy and systematic promotion of prostitution in the Presidential Palace.
Some circles of advisors, ministers and public representatives in the Presidential Palace worked to promote prostitution, Ahmadzai had alleged.
However, Haroon Chakhansori, a spokesman to the president, on Sunday called Ahmadzai’s allegations baseless and personal obsessions, saying the issue would be seriously investigated and its results shared with the Afghan public.
“The allegations of Ahmadzai are for seeking his own seat. After failing in Wolesi Jirga election, he again came to Presidential Palace and asked to be employed as advisor, but he was rejected,” he said.
He said anyone having such claims should provide evidence and follow them with the Attorney General Office.
Ahmadzai in response to Chakhansori’s statements and a question about promotion of prostitution in Presidential Palace, told Pajhwok Afghan News that it was not the right forum for him to talk about it and he would share enough evidence about his allegations once a special probe commission was established for investigation of the issue.
“I will not budge even an inch from my stance, I have mentioned a specific circle in the Presidential Palace, some figures want to create problems between me and the president, I stand on what I had said and I fear no one,” he said. He said he would appear in a court only if others who had made similar claims also join him.
In response to Chakhansori’s statement that Ahmadzai was rejected by President Ashraf Ghani as his advisor for a second time, he said: “If they provide any evidence that I had requested for becoming advisor of the president for a second time, I will give up my nationality.”
He said he received 7,466 votes in Kabul in Wolesi Jirga election and he would defend the public votes.
