AGC to invest $300m in telecom sector

Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoCIT) on Thursday day said the Alokozai Group of Company (AGC) would invest $300 million in the telecom sector in the country.

A statement from the MoCIT told Pajhwok Afghan News the Economic High Council (EHC) has approved the Wesal telecom private firm’ property, shifting and sale proposal.

Finance Minister Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi and Minister of telecommunication Shahzadah Aryubi were also present the Economic High Council (EHC)’s meeting in Kabul on Wednesday.

The statement added that Wesal telecom firm by achieving the  CDMA services license had been faced with the technical issue and could not able to arrange their activities with daily technology to meet nearly 100, 000 Subscribers’ demands.

Thus the subscribers’ number had been decreased to 12,0 00 currently.

It added that the Wesal telecom firm did not pay tax for the past few years borrowed money from other firms.

According to the statement, the MoCIT has given two months to clear taxpayers but they were unable to do so.
