US president Donald Trump’s remarks regarding wiping off Afghanistan from the face of earth sparked harsh reactions in Kabul as a number politicians strongly reacted to the statement, accusing the US president of insulting Afghan nation.
Reacting to Trump’s statement, former Security Advisor Dr Rangin Dadfar Spanta said the Afghan nation did not invite the US to Afghanistan and Trump can pullout forces whenever he wants. He said Trump’s remarks were frightful and terrible.
“US forces are pulling out, they can leave Afghanistan because nobody invited them in the first place,” Spanta said.
The former NSA said Afghans’ desperation for peace does mean that they want a peace settlement that will bring “Pakistani puppets” to power in their country.
Spanta said Trump must not forget that Afghanistan was the cradle of multiple civilizations even before the discovery of American continent by Christopher Columbus, so nobody has the power to wipe the ancient country off the world’s map.
