Olive production in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province reached 1,100 tons this year, according to officials from the Wadi Agricultural Corporation.

Eng. Nidaullah Nyazi, Head of Trade and Marketing at the company, told Bakhtar News Agency that from this year’s harvest, the company has so far produced 135,000 liters of olive oil and 30 tons of pickled olives. Processing and production remain ongoing.

Nyazi noted that the company has expanded its production, processing, and packaging facilities to enhance capacity and improve supply to both domestic and international markets.

He also highlighted the role of the company’s 71-kilometer-long irrigation canal, which provides water for 31,000 hectares of farmland. Of this, 11,400 hectares are directly managed by the company, while the rest is privately owned.

Officials report a notable improvement in the quality of olive products this year. The company has recently produced an additional 4.5 tons of olive oil and pickles, which have seen strong demand in local markets.
