In recent years, Afghanistan has experienced significant population growth. According to the latest report from the head of the United Nations humanitarian aid division, Afghanistan’s population has reached nearly 48 million. This is in stark contrast to the estimated 25 million population twenty years ago when the constitution was being drafted. This means that in the past two decades, Afghanistan’s population has doubled.

This population increase, which includes more than one million new births or arrivals each year, plays a significant role in escalating Afghanistan’s challenges. Although population growth is sometimes seen as an opportunity, in Afghanistan, it has particularly posed serious challenges in the labor market, which was already struggling with unemployment issues. If this situation continues, the humanitarian crisis will automatically expand, and Afghanistan’s economic growth will face severe obstacles.

While the development of the labor market and the creation of new employment opportunities should be top priorities, it appears that the lack of strategic policies and solutions has exacerbated the problems. It is essential for the Afghan government and international partners to seriously consider strategic policy development and deep thinking in this area.

The role of international aid in improving the humanitarian situation cannot be overlooked, but these aids are only considered a temporary solution. For sustainable economic growth in Afghanistan, there is a need to create job opportunities, develop educational and technical skills, and implement fundamental economic reforms.

To prevent the worsening of the humanitarian crisis and address the growing population in Afghanistan, it is crucial to prioritize strategic policy-making and comprehensive community development. The Afghan government and the international community need to collaborate in finding long-term and sustainable solutions to these problems to ensure that Afghanistan’s future is safeguarded from economic and humanitarian crises.

Additionally, awareness levels must be raised so that people understand the consequences of population growth and are fully informed about their role in this matter. It is essential for Afghans to work together and make better decisions about their future. Through governmental and non-governmental organizations, media, and public awareness programs, awareness about population growth and the resulting challenges should be elevated.

In conclusion, the issue of Afghanistan’s population growth is a serious problem that requires long-term and strategic policy-making. Only in this way can we prevent humanitarian and economic crises and ensure a bright and problem-free future for Afghanistan.
