Afghanistan and Turkey have signed a cooperation agreement on information sharing, says a media report.
The deal was inked between Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) of Turkey with the National Procurement Authority of Afghanistan.
The Anodolu Agency reported the agreement was signed at a business meeting organized by DEIK’s Turkey-Afghanistan Business Council.
Enhanced economic ties, investment and cooperation opportunities between the two countries came up for discussion at the meeting.
Acting Finance Minister Humayon Qayoumi said the two countries wanted cooperation in areas of politics, investment, infrastructure and trade.
Afghanistan has significant location on the Silk Road, having a key role in integrating Central and South Asian economies, the visiting minister said.
The annual bilateral trade volume between Turkey and Afghanistan should be increased from the current level of about$150 million, said DEIK chief Nail Olpak.
Olpak added there were huge opportunities of cooperation in construction, energy and security fields between the two countries.
