Afghanistan has settled its multimillion-dollar debt owed to Uzbekistan for electricity, the Uzbek Ministry of Energy has announced.
According to a statement issued by the ministry on Monday, Afghanistan’s power company, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), has fully settled what it owed Uzbekistan for 2,151.3 kilowatt hours of electricity supplied in 2021.
DABS is reportedly also paying on time for this year’s supply.
The ministry did not specify how much had been paid but reports earlier this year indicated that DABS owed Uzbekistan about $100 million.
