The first round of the Political Consultative Mechanism between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and Pakistan was held in Islamabad.
According to a statement from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Afghan delegation was led by Mufti Noor Ahmad Noor, Director of the First Political Department, while the Pakistani side was headed by Syed Ali Asad Gilani, Additional Secretary for Afghanistan and West Asia at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Discussions focused on bilateral political issues, trade, transit cooperation, and regional connectivity. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international political matters.
The delegations emphasized the need to resolve the challenges faced by Afghan prisoners and refugees in Pakistan and to facilitate visa issuance for Afghan patients and traders. Both parties pledged to continue their engagement to address existing challenges and underscored the importance of security for regional development and stronger bilateral relations.
