The total investment value for these projects has been stated as 23.7 billion afghani.

•    10 MW solar power project in Surobi district, Kabul

At the same time, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) announced that it will soon put up new projects for the production, transmission, and distribution of electricity in 80 districts for public bidding.

Abdul Bari Omar, CEO of Breshna, said: “We will soon launch tenders for electricity projects in 70 to 80 districts of the country, so electricity can be distributed across all those areas.”

He emphasized the importance of private sector participation and called on national and international investors to contribute to electricity production.

Amanullah Ghalib, former head of Breshna, said: “If Breshna truly wants to encourage private sector involvement, it must partner with these projects and the Ministry of Finance should establish a financial guarantee fund to back private investors.”

Abdul Nasir Rashtia, an economic analyst, said: “Electricity is one of the most fundamental human needs. Without reliable energy, no sector can progress. If we can ensure sufficient and reliable electricity from domestic sources, we can not only meet public demand but also achieve breakthroughs in sectors like mining and agriculture.”

According to DABS, in the past three years, the Islamic Emirate has been working on the design of large and small-scale projects to produce more than 900 megawatts of electricity.

Afghanistan currently needs between 2,500 and 3,000 megawatts of electricity. However, only 25% of that is supplied through domestic sources, while the remaining 75% is imported from neighboring countries including Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran.
