The Ministry of Public Health on Thursday reported 234 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 2,568 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
The Public Health Ministry also reported 9 deaths and 662 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period.
The new cases were reported in Kabul (39), Herat (32), Kandahar (27), Balkh (4), Nangarhar (16), Takhar (12), Baghlan (11), Bamiyan (6) Kunduz (10), Nimruz (19), Daikundi (6), Ghazni (1), Logar (2), Badghis (2), Badakhshan (3), Wardak (2), Kapisa (22), Kunar (4), Zabul (1), Uruzgan (2), Faryab (2), Samangan (2), Jawzjan (6) and Sar-e-Pul (3) provinces.
The deaths were reported Kabul (2), Balkh (1), Bamiyan (2), Kunduz (1) and Farah (3) provinces, according to data provided by the Ministry of Public Health.
The Health Ministry reports the cumulative total cases at 51,594, the number of total reported deaths at 2,135, and the total number of recoveries at 40,582.
So far, 188,860 samples have been tested in government centers and there are 8,174 known active COVID-19 cases in the country, data by the ministry indicates.
The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 1,731,115 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 78,725,345, according to Johns Hopkins University.
