Afghanistan: 226 New Cases of Coronavirus, 9 Deaths Reported

The Ministry of Public Health on Thursday reported 226 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 1,278 samples tested in the last 24 hours.   

The Public Health Ministry also reported nine deaths and 87 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period.

The new cases were reported Kabul (59), Kandahar (48), Herat (32), Balkh (21), Nangarhar (23), Paktia (21), Parwan (13), Nimruz (2), Logar (2), Maidan Wardak (1), Laghman (2), Zabul (1) and Nuristan (1) provinces.

The deaths were reported in Kabul (3), Herat (3), Nangarhar (1), Nimruz (1) and Helmand (1) provinces, according to data provided by the Ministry of Public Health.

The data by the ministry shows that the cumulative number of total cases is now 45,716, the number of total reported deaths is 1,737, and the total number of recoveries is 36,232.

So far, 144,617 samples have been tested in the government centers and there are 7,488 known active COVID-19 cases in the country, data by the ministry indicates.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 1,421,352 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 60,397,539, according to Johns Hopkins University.
