The value of the Afghani currency has increased against US dollar and Pakistani rupee while the rates of flour and sugar dipped during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.
The value of Afghan currency has increased by 1.2 percent against US dollar and 4.4 percent against Pakistani rupee during the last one week.
Haji Mir Hussian Sadaqat, a moneychanger at the Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada, said one US dollar was accounted for 77.15 Afghanis and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 477afs against last week’s 78.15Afghani and 494Afghani.
A number of moneychangers in Sara-i-Shahzaha said that the value of Afghani currency was increased after transactions on Pakistani rupees banned in the country, particularly in border provinces.
The campaign for promoting Afghani-only transactions has launched in many provinces including border provinces (Khost, Nangarhar, Laghman and Paktia).
Many provinces sharing border with Pakistan use Pakistani rupees for transactions while provinces bordering Iran use Iranian rial.
On the other hand, the price of Kazakhstani flour and Pakistani sugar dipped.
Mohammad Samim, a wholesaler in Kabul Mandavi Market, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of 49 kilograms of Pakistani sugar downed from 2,040 Afghani to 1,950 Afghani and the same quantity of Kazakhstani flour from 1,600 Afghani to 1,550 Afghani.
He said that the price of the two commodities were decreased due to hike in Afghani currency value against US dollar and Pakistani rupee.
