The mistake by an Afghan pilot sparked panic in New Delhi’s International Airport late on Saturday after the hijack button of the plane was mistakenly pressed.
The plane of Ariana Afghan Airlines was due to take off from Indira Gandhi International Airport and was due to leave for Kandahar when the incident took place.
According to reports, at least 133 people including the crew of the plane and passengers were on board the plane when the pilot mistakenly pressed the hijack button, forcing the Indian troops to cordon off the plane.
The counter-terrorism and other security forces immediately launched an investigation into incident and it was later confirmed that the button was pressed in mistake.
According to the local media reports, the authorities allowed the plane to take off after almost two hours.
