Afghan delegation off to Qatar for intra-Afghan talks

Afghan delegation on Saturday left Kabul for Doha to attend intra-Afghan dialogue hosted by Germany and Qatar.

An organizer of the meeting, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the meeting would be held in Doha today afternoon and 60 people are attending the meeting.

A 32-member delegation, including 10 women, traveled to Qatar in the same flight today (Saturday).

List of participants

Asela Wardak, Dr. Habiba Surabi, Shahrzad Akbar, Fauzia Kofi, Laili Jafari, Marya Ikrami, Shah Gul Rezaee, Anarkali Hunaryar, Jamila Afghani and Zainab Moahid are the women will attend the intra-Afghan dialogue.

Maulvi Aminuddin Muzafari, Abdul Hadi Rafiee, Qurbanali Fasihi, Jamaluddin Badar, Maulvi Safiullah Nuristani, Mohammad Nader Naeem, Atta Rahman Salem, Maulvi Abdul Salam Zaeef, Arshad Ahmadi, Matin Bek, Hekmat Karzai, Haji Din Mohammad, Eng. Farhadullah Farhad, Nader Naderi, Hamid Gilani, Saleh Mohammad Saljoqi, Ghairat Bahir, Maulvi Enayatullah Balegh, Hazrat Omar Zakhelwal, Dr. Rangeen Dadfar Spanta, Sayed Mansour Naderi and Muhaiddin Mehdi will also be in attendance.

Abdul Salam Zaeef, a member of the delegation, while living for Doha, told Pajhwok that intra-Afghan talks would help improve peace process and pave the way for political settlement.

He called the ongoing talks between US and Taliban delegations positive. “My information is that positive results will come up from the ongoing talks,” he added.

According to Zaeef, the Taliban want to follow the peace process through intra-Afghan dialogue but they are not willing to set with Afghan government.

“According to my information the Taliban do not want eradication of government institutions, but will try to bring reforms,” Zaeef remarked.

Another member of the talks, who did not want to be named, told Pajhwok that 17 Taliban representatives, including Mullah Baradar, would attend the talks.

The source said, the talks with Taliban would be held in the format of committees and it would be effective if the outcomes shared with organizers. He added this meeting would help facilitate the peace talks.
