Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Kabul. According to a statement from the ministry, the meeting focused on the expansion of economic, trade, and technical cooperation between the two countries.
Muttaqi described Afghanistan–China relations as growing and called China an important trade partner for Afghanistan, noting that current annual trade between the two countries has reached one billion dollars. He expressed hope that the trade volume would further increase in the future.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also welcomed the expansion of bilateral relations, stressing that his country seeks to increase Afghanistan’s exports and to formally integrate Kabul into the Belt and Road Initiative.
