The case of sexual abuse of Afghan female footballers has been referred to court, authorities said on Monday.

Jamshid Rasooli, the spokesman to the Attorney General’s office, said that six people including the former head of Afghanistan Football Federation Kiramuddin Karim were formally charged following an investigation.

Others charged were AFF’s secretary-general, head of goalkeepers’ committee, head of provincial communication, secretary to the federation’s chief and head of security department.

They are facing allegations of rape, sexual harassment, misuse of authority and concealing of crime.

AFF’s former chief Karim has been banned from football activities by world governing body FIFA.
