Police have arrested a senior Daesh leader recruiting fighters for the militant group in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Saturday.
Provincial police chief Col. Farid Ahmad Mashal told Pajhwok Afghan News that Idris — also known as Abu Zar — was hiring Islamic State recruits.
He said the detainee was previously responsible for recruiting fighters for the insurgent group in Nangarhar and Kunduz provinces.
Separately, police arrested an individual named Nazir Ahmad, who spread pro-Taliban propaganda on social media in the Waghaz district of the province.
The police chief blamed the detainee regularly worked for Mullah Mansoor, a Taliban leader based in Waghaz, and Mullah Saadat in Andar district.
Both detainees, having confessed to their crimes, have been referred to judicial organs for further investigations.
The Taliban and Daesh have so far said nothing about the arrest.
