The US Department of Defense, Pentagon, has awarded a new contract to provide logistics support to Afghan Air Force’s fleet of MD-530F Cayuse Warrior helicopters.
According to a statement released by Department of Defense, the contract was awarded to MD Helicopters Inc. based in Arizona.
“MD Helicopters Inc., Mesa, Arizona, was awarded a $15,964,035 modification (P00021) to contract W58RGZ-17-C-0038 for logistics support. Work will be performed in Kabul, Afghanistan; and Mesa, Arizona, with an estimated completion date of Aug. 31, 2019,” the statement said.
This comes as efforts are underway to bolster the capabilities of the Afghan Air Force.
The coalition forces officials in Afghanistan had earlier said that the size of the Afghan Air Force will be tripled by 2023 with the addition of new equipment and aircraft.
