Precious and Semi-Precious Stones Worth Over 4.2 Million AFN Sold in Nuristan

‎The Nuristan Directorate of Mines and Petroleum has sold 31 kilograms of precious and semi-precious stones for 4,215,000 AFN through an open auction.

Mawlavi Syedul Rahim Umair, Director of Mines and Petroleum of Nuristan, told Bakhtar News Agency that the stones were extracted from mines in Nurgaram District of the province.

‎He added that the stones included 21 kilograms of tourmaline and 11 kilograms of emeralds extracted from the Chura and Dagra mines in the district.

‎He noted that 421,500 AFN from the total sale proceeds will be deposited into the state treasury.
‎
‎Moreover, around 100 domestic and foreign traders participated in the auction.
