A Kazakh trade delegation, led by Yerkin Tukumov, Kazakhstan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, held talks with local officials, traders, and industrialists in Herat on expanding trade and economic relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the need to increase bilateral trade, expand transit capacity, and create greater opportunities for cooperation between the private sectors of Afghanistan and Kazakhstan.
Yerkin Tukumov said that trade between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan reached $581 million during the first six months of the current year.
He added that expanding transportation and transit capacity, establishing railway lines, and developing logistics centers are essential to increasing bilateral trade.
He further stated that Kazakhstan hopes to expand trade with Afghanistan and that achieving this goal requires the establishment of railway lines and logistics centers, as well as facilitating the transportation of Kazakhstan’s products to Afghanistan and Afghanistan’s products to Kazakhstan.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Mawlana Noor Ahmad Islamjar, Governor of Herat, highlighted the province’s geographical location and historical significance, describing its potential as important for expanding trade and economic cooperation.
During the meeting, Mawlavi Shahabuddin Saqib, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, also called for expanded cooperation with Kazakh traders and joint investment in the mining, agriculture, and domestic production sectors.
Mohammad Younus Qazi-Zada, Head of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, emphasized the need to create greater opportunities for Kazakh investors to participate in various sectors of Herat’s economy.
The participants also emphasized the continuation of trade and economic meetings between the two countries.
Meanwhile, an exhibition of Herat’s domestic products was held for the Kazakh delegation to showcase the province’s economic potential.
The exhibition displayed agricultural products, livestock products, and locally manufactured goods, providing local producers and industrialists with an opportunity to present their products and production capacities to the delegation.
