Mawlavi Ahmad Jan Bilal, Director General of State-Owned Companies, stated that investment in the power sector and the implementation of infrastructure projects are instrumental in driving economic development and advancing Afghanistan toward self-sufficiency.

He made these remarks at a ceremony inaugurating projects to expand three substations in Kabul, according to a statement released today by the State-Owned Enterprises Directorate.

Mawlavi Bilal emphasized that electricity is a cornerstone of economic development across all sectors, noting that several major projects in the energy sector are currently underway.

He expressed optimism that, with the progress of ongoing initiatives, the country’s electricity needs will be more effectively met in the future.

Bilal revealed that 74 billion afghanis were invested in the power sector over the past year, describing it as the largest investment in the sector’s history in Afghanistan.

He added that electricity projects not only address energy demands but also generate employment, stimulate industrial activity, and support the expansion of industrial parks, thereby contributing to Afghanistan’s economic self-sufficiency.

The Director General also commended the technical staff of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat for their dedication, noting that they have overcome technical challenges under difficult circumstances and responded to needs in a timely manner.
