A high-level Afghan delegation currently visiting China has convened with Afghan businesspeople based in the country to tackle key trade hurdles and bolster bilateral economic cooperation.
According to a statement from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the delegation led by Deputy Minister Mawlavi Shahabuddin Saqib addressed the concerns of traders operating in China, specifically focusing on the obstacles hindering their commercial activities.
The visit, conducted at the formal invitation of Beijing, also includes the delegation’s participation in a regional economic forum, where officials have underscored the necessity of deepening trade linkages between Afghanistan and its regional neighbors.
On the sidelines of the gathering, Saqib toured exhibition pavilions featuring locally produced Afghan goods and handicrafts.
Following a comprehensive exchange with the traders, he assured them that the Ministry, in coordination with other relevant state bodies, is committed to resolving these issues and reinforcing the country’s private sector.
The overarching objective of the mission is to expand commercial ties, spotlight Afghanistan’s investment potential, attract foreign capital, and solidify economic partnerships across the region.
The delegation is in China to take part in the China–Eurasia Expo 2026, which commenced on June 25 and runs through June 29 in Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
