Local officials in Panjshir Province have announced the sale of newly extracted emeralds from the province’s mines.
Saifuddin Laton, spokesperson for Panjshir Province, stated that a total of 11,842 carats of emeralds, valued at 4,770,360 Afghanis, were sold through auction to domestic traders in the presence of the Mines Monitoring Committee, local authorities, and businessmen.
He added that thousands of carats of emeralds had previously also been sold through auction to Afghan traders.
