The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has expressed regret over the recent decision by the United States to designate Afghanistan as a ‘state sponsor of wrongful detention.’
According to Bakhtar News Agency, the Ministry emphasized that the Afghanistan’s government does not hold any foreign nationals as bargaining tools. It clarified that individuals arrested were detained for violating the country’s laws, and most of them were released promptly on the completion of legal procedures.
The Ministry further highlighted that the issue has been addressed through multiple levels of dialogue between Afghanistan and the United States, with Qatar serving as a mediator. Both sides have made commitments to implement positive measures during these discussions.
The Islamic Emirate remains committed to resolving the matter appropriately through continued talks and constructive engagement.
