Providing renewable energy to eight schools across the center and four districts of Bamyan province. The initiative, which boasts a total capacity of 75.5 kilowatts, was officially launched at the Zargran Girls’ Primary School.
Funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Afghanistan, the project comes at a cost of $140,000 and has been implemented in collaboration with the Bamyan Department of Education. The targeted districts include Shibar, Kohmard, Saighan, Panjab, along with the central area of Bamyan.
Officials announced that the benefits of this solar electricity project will extend beyond the educational institutions. In the near future, residential homes located near these schools will also have access to affordable solar energy.
