Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, in a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, stated that Afghanistan is ready to facilitate the transfer of remaining Iranian pilgrims from Saudi Arabia to Iran via Afghan territory.
Muttaqi also strongly condemned the Israeli attacks on Iran. According to a statement from the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muttaqi denounced the Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory — which targeted not only military facilities but also residential areas — as a blatant violation of international law and an infringement of Iran’s national sovereignty.
He emphasized Afghanistan’s readiness to cooperate in ensuring the safe return of the remaining Iranian pilgrims.
Due to the closure of Iranian airspace, Iranian pilgrims are forced to return through neighboring countries. Previously, Iran had requested Pakistan to host around 20,000 Iranian pilgrims.
