A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the IEA met with representatives of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the expansion of political, economic, trade, and transit relations.
Business and transit opportunities, as well as the establishment of a commission to follow up on bilateral issues, were among the topics discussed during the meeting.
In this meeting, the head of South Asia at the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Cihad Erginay, stressed the importance of political consultations between the two countries and stated that Türkiye is eager to expand its relations with Afghanistan in various fields.
“Türkiye has had close relations with Afghanistan for many years, both religiously and culturally. If we strengthen our partnership and align our thoughts with Türkiye, it will benefit both us and Türkiye,” said Moeen Gul Samkanai, a political analyst.
Some analysts believe that Türkiye is one of the countries that can take practical steps toward the recognition of the Islamic Emirate and play a significant role in expanding Afghanistan’s economic and trade relations with European countries.
“Türkiye is an Islamic country, yet it also has naturally close relations with Western countries. I believe that the stronger our ties with Türkiye become, the better Türkiye can help improve our relations with the Western world and other countries,” said Salim Paigir, a political analyst.
“Through Türkiye, we can connect to European markets. Moreover, Türkiye has a long history of economic and trade relations with Afghanistan. Over the years, Türkiye has helped Afghanistan and invested in it,” said Abdul Nasir Reshtia, an economic analyst.
After the Islamic Emirate came to power, Türkiye was among the countries that kept its embassy active in Afghanistan and continued its diplomatic relations with the Islamic Emirate.
