Jibra’il Omar Passes Away in Kabul Due to Illness

The Ministry of Interior has expressed deep sorrow in a statement regarding the passing of Australian teacher Jibra’il Omar. Formerly known as Timothy Weeks, he was once held captive in Afghanistan and, following his release, voluntarily converted to Islam, adopting the name Jibra’il Omar.

According to the statement, Jibra’il Omar worked as an English language instructor in Kabul. It further notes that he had a deep love for Afghanistan, which led him to choose Kabul as his place of residence.

The statement mentions that he had been battling cancer for an extended period and passed away today at his residence in Kabul.
