At least 10 Taliban militants and eight uprising members have been killed during clashes in Bati Kot district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the clashes erupted after the insurgents coordinately stormed on uprising forces’ check-posts in Ambarkhani, Lortai, Grabawi and Lachapoor localities of the district late Monday.
He said eight uprising forces and 10 Taliban militants were killed and 12 uprising members and dozens of Taliban insurgents were wounded in the overnight clashes.
Sayed Akbar, an uprising member, told Pajhwok they had already shared their concern with government authorities that they lacked advanced weapons.
The Taliban have not yet commented about the incident.
