The Pakistan Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, said that his country wants to see a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan and that it is in their interest as well.
Speaking to the metro global network, Zardari said that he is hopeful the Afghan caretaker government will address the “issue of terrorism” and security in Afghanistan.
“We are hopeful that the new one-year-old government — interim government in Afghanistan not only address the issue of terrorism and provide security because that is a fundamental prerequisite,” Zardari said.
He referred to the visit of Hina Rabbani Khar, Pakistan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, and said that the Pakistan delegation discussed the issue of fighting terrorism and trade between the two countries.
The head of the Islamic Emirate’s Political Office in Doha, Suhail Shaheen, said that Afghanistan is secure now compare to before.
“No destructive armed group has a physical presence in the country. There are some slight attacks. But if some foreign intelligence doesn’t support it, they cannot conduct these attacks. The officials are working to avoid such attacks,” he said.
Political analysts believe that peace in Afghanistan will benefit the region and the world.
“The Islamic Emirate can earn the trust of neighboring and regional countries through its practical policies to assure that no terrorist group can use Afghanistan’s soil,” said Abdul Rahman Elahi, a political analyst.
“If Afghanistan is secure and stabilized, the region and world will be secured,” said Sayed Akbar Sial Wardak, a political analyst.
On Monday, the clashes between Islamic Emirate forces and the Pakistani miliary left seven people dead and 30 others wounded.
Pakistani media reported that Zardari is on a seven-day visit to the US and that it is expected that he will discuss the situation in Afghanistan.
