The Taliban have asked the Afghan government to give the body of Gen. Abdul Raziq’s killer to his family in return for the bodies of a helicopter crash in western Farah province.
The Taliban in a statement on Friday said their fighters shot down the military helicopter in Jamal Ghazi area between Farah and neighboring Herat province two days ago, killing 25 people, including a military general.
The rebels said 27 people had been killed in the incident and their bodies were in their possession.
The statement said if the Afghan government wanted to receive the remains of the helicopter incident through the Red Cross, it should hand over the body of Zabihullah Abud Jana, the elite guard who killed Gen. Raziq, the Kandahar police chief and the provincial intelligence chief, to his family.
