Some Western countries have frequently accused China of violating human rights recently, such as in Xinjiang and Hong Kong. These accusations have no basis in fact. What is even more embarrassing is that these countries such as the United States that have been talking about human rights and democracy all the time have their own very bad records in the field of protecting human rights. They are not seeking the people-centered democracy but for the ballot-centered politics. In their so-called human rights, there is no “human” at all.
You will naturally get an uncontroversial answer about what “Xinjiang” “Hong Kong” and even China is like today, as long as you travel to China and take a look there. Only your feet know if the shoes fit yourself or not. According to a report released by the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard University, Chinese citizens’ satisfaction with the government has improved all-around. The Ash Center has been tracking satisfaction about the Chinese government performance since 2003. The report pointed out, from national policies to the actions of local officials, Chinese citizens believe that the government is more capable and efficient than ever before.
On the contrast, when the United States faces the threat of an epidemic that has not been seen in the past century, it has not put more energy on protecting the lives, health and safety of the American people and the people of the world. We must be clear of that the number of deaths due to the epidemic in the United States has exceeded 520,000 by the end of February, which is more than the total number of deaths in the first world war, second world war and the Vietnam war for the U.S. Nearly 10 million other people have been diagnosed with COVID-19. The unemployment and food shortages caused by the epidemic are even more shocking. On Thanksgiving Day, 50 million people in the United States received food assistance. Misfortunes never come single. Not long ago, Texas was hit by a strong cold wave and some areas had power and water cuts. Millions of families shivered in the cold wind and some people even lost their lives. How to imagine that these things actually happened in the so-called most democratic and prosperous country in the world today?
As we all know, in addition to the above, the United States also faces many systemic bad records of human rights such as racial discrimination, violent law enforcement and power politics. The wars launched by the United States in regions such as Iraq and Afghanistan have caused serious human rights disasters to the local people. How ridiculous it is that, the United States is still keeping criticizing the human rights situation of other countries even facing the ironclad evidences. Why do some American politicians so enjoy it? As I said at the beginning of the article, there is no “people” and “human” in their “human rights”, which is just the means of seeking “ballots” for them. The so-called “American democracy” is nothing but the “ballot” masters who serve their interests of political parties and personals.
